Legacy in wood - The Fretwork Decor of St.Vincent Church: The Sacred Works of Art of Father Charles Chalifoux, CSSP

Foreword

Church interiorChurch outsideIn 1991, an exhibit of the sacred art of Father Charles Chalifoux, CSSP, was organized by the Committee of the St. Paul Historical Museum in collaboration with members of the parish of St. Vincent. Much interest was raised, and in consequence, a traveling exhibit was prepared. Given the fragility of the artifacts and the great cost of travel, a small portion of the artwork was selected to travel. The parish council of St. Church seen from the southwestVincent permitted us to use the church and the parish hall to photograph the artifacts and lent us linens for the altar and communion rails. Without their help and that of many other volunteers, the exhibit and this catalogue would not have been possible. Special thanks to Mme Laura Forrend who provided an eyewitness account of the creation of the artworks and of the socio-cultural life of the community of St. Vincent. Her devotion to the memory of Fr. Charles Chalifoux was the initial inspiration for the collection of his artworks.
