Ice Floe Rescues

Harold tells of some of the instances in which rescues were required, but in which he could not risk the plane. Quite often the fishermen on Great Slave Lake would find them selves stranded on ice floes that were separated from land when the wind came up. The Norseman was too heavy to land on these floes. There was, however, a pilot that had a smaller Cessna 120, he often landed this plane on the floes, a very risky manouevre, to rescue these men.
