Description:
THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:

1. A lighting fixture unit including:
(a) a housing having a bottom wall and opposite end walls, the bottom wall having an opening,
(b) a door connected to the bottom wall of the opening for movement between a closed position across the opening and an open position clear of the opening,
(c) a holder for carrying an interconnected string of electric lights, hingedly mounted in the housing at the opening for swinging the lights through the opening between a hidden position within the housing and an exposed position in which the lights project outwards through the opening,
(d) holder operating means for automatically swinging the lights to the exposed position when the door is moved to an open position and for returning the lights to the hidden position when the door is moved to a closed position.

2. A lighting fixture unit as claimed in claim 1 including a hinge pin extending along an edge of the opening, the door being mounted on the hinge pin for winging movement.

3. A lighting fixture unit as claimed in claim 2 in which the holder operating means includes a cylindrical sleeve having a rotatable fit on the hinge pin, means connecting the sleeve and the holder for mutual rotation, a first tab extending radially from the sleeve adapted to be engaged by the door when the door is swung from its closed to its open position for rotating the sleeve and the holder and the lights to the exposed position, and a second tab projecting from the sleeve disposed so as to be engaged by the door when the door is swung from its open to its closed position for moving the holder and lights to the hidden position.

4. A lighting fixture unit as claimed in claim 2 or 3 including a coil spring mounted on the hinge pin having claws engaging the door on the bottom wall of the housing, the spring being tensioned to normally urge the door to swing from its open to its closed position.

5. A lighting fixture unit as claimed in claim 2 or 3, including spring clips mounted on the housing for releasably holding the door in its open or closed positions.
