Support Bracket and Blank Therefor (Patent No: 637329)

Description: The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:


(1) A support bracket for stringers, whalers and the like comprising in combination a pair of spaced and parallel side flanges, a center section connecting said flanges together along one side thereof, and vertical, stud engaging means projecting inwardly of said flanges towards one another, said stud engaging means comprising stud engaging prongs formed in said side flanges, the lower end of said center section engaging the front face of the associated vertical stud.


(2) The device according to Claim 1 in which said side flanges are triangular when viewed in side elevation, said center section sloping downwardly and inwardly from the upper rear corners of said side flanges, said stud engaging means being positioned adjacent the front upper corners, of said triangular side flanges.


(3) The device according to Claims 1 or 2 in which the lower edge of said center section is cut away whereby the lower corners embrace the sides of the stud thereby forming a relatively sharp stud front face engaging edge.


(4) A one piece blank for support brackets comprising, when viewed in plan, a center section and a triangular wing on each side thereof, stud engaging prongs formed in said triangular wings adjacent the apices thereof, the lower edge of said center section being cut away to form a stud face engaging edge.
