Process for Forming Tubular Products and Apparatus Therefor (Patent No: 654298)

Inventor: Palynchuk, Alexander

Location: Edmonton

Comments: N/A

Description:

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. The process of forming tubular products from plates which comprises feeding said plates between a series of upper pressure rolls and continual lower forming rolls positioned to be in substantially continuous contact with the edges of the plate during the forming and to form the plate through a succession of predetermined curves and wherein the stresses to the plate are within the elastic limits of the longitudinal fibres of the whole plate.

2. Apparatus for forming tubular products from plates comprising a series of upper pressure rolls and continual lower forming rolls and means to feed a plate between the upper pressure rolls and continual lower forming rolls, such continual lower forming rolls positioned to form the plate through a succession of predetermined curves calculated to not subject the plate to stresses that are beyond the elastic limits of the longitudinal fibres of the plate.

3.Apparatus as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the axis of rotation of the rolls in the lower forming roll assemblies are normal to the curve followed by the edge of the plate during the forming thereof.
