International Awards for Excellence in Research

Dr Raymond U. Lemieux

The University of Alberta's commitment to excellence in research has brought it international recognition. Members of the University's academic staff are fellows in the Royal Society of London, an international body dedicated to promoting scientific excellence. Dr Richard E. Taylor a University of Alberta alumnus and his two research team members, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1990. Dr David Schindler was awarded the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, the most prestigious international award for environmental research.
