Il Congresso - Alberta's Italian Newspaper The Heritage Community Foundation and the National Congress of Italian Canadians, Edmonton District are proud to provide a dynamic new platform to help make Alberta's Italian community come alive for everyone! We welcome you to explore and celebrate aspects of Alberta's Italian community—past and present—through images, story, audio and video, maps and text.

This site features three main sections:

Background: This section examines the historical circumstances that led to Italian emigration to Canada and the Province of Alberta, complete with maps to help you navigate through the Province and investigate the contributions of Italian-Canadians throughout Alberta.

Lifeways: Experience life in  Alberta through the eyes of Italian immigrants and Albertans of Italian heritage.  This section focuses on how Canadian life has been shaped and influenced by Italian immigrants and subsequent generations.

People: Learn more about the Italian community in Alberta by becoming acquainted with some of the people, in their own voices, through oral history excerpts, biographies and family photo albums.

We hope that your experience fosters new understanding of the people who emigrated from Italy to Alberta and contributed to the Province's economic, social and cultural development.
