The first drama about Italian immigrants in Alberta was put on at the recent Fringe Festival in Edmonton. "Terra Straniera" by Caterina Edwards examines the lives of Maria and Cesare and the bordanti (boarders) in their home. These immigrants have come to Canada to work hard and save some money so that they can return to Italy and build new homes and lives. They soon discover, as many of us have, that life does not always turn out as we planned. |

Multiculturalism Pilot Project Announced | Month 8 Year 3 Volume 1 |
Grant MacEwan Community College's expanding horizons have moved into the multicultural arena. A pilot project for multiculturalism in the Performing and Visual Arts division is now being headed by Dr. Roman Petryshyn. This year-long project is the first of its kind in Canada. Dr. George Naylor, Dean of Performing Arts, believes that "as a community-based institution, the College must determine how best to meet the diverse requirements of Edmonton's multicultural society. Grant MacEwan's Jasper Place Campus is the best place to do it; it has the largest concentration of arts and medic instruction in western Canada." |

On Saturday, 18th October, the Santa Maria Goretti Community Centre was the setting of the first gala organized by the Societ? Femminile. The evening which was comprised of a gala dinner, entertainment and dance, was enjoyed by all. Profits from ticket sales will be presented to Father Feccia for the Community Centre. |
