Jaanipaev 2012

Like so many northern European Cultures we celebrate an old traditional summer solstice event which in Estonia is called Jaanipaev.  While it is an annual event in Estonia, in Alberta we celebrate it every two years.  It is a family social event with the traditional ritual of gathering around a large bonfire.  In our Alberta celebrations, the bonfire festivity is dependent on weather and local fire regulations, but the party goes on regardless!

The Pioneer Spirit!

Life plays out in real time and there is no reset switch.

It would not be so interesting were it otherwise.

Resilience is tested and the strong adjust.

Great times are celebrated and cherished.

We are truly appreciative of the optimistic spirit shown by so many.

Until next time,

The AEHS Jaanipaev 2012 Committee
