Find Love on
Valentine’s Day

With Valentine's Day around the corner, many couples are thinking about booking a romantic date to celebrate.  But to really keep love alive, Aurora Family Therapy Centre recommends scheduling an appointment with a relationship expert instead.  Aurora  Family Therapy Centre is offering couples a free, 50-minute relationship checkup during Valentine's week from February 12 to 16, 2007.

Over the past several years, hundreds of couples have participated in the checkup sessions and gained valuable insight into their relationships.  "The checkup is an educational tool rather than therapy, and it's for all couples," says Linda Cantelon, Aurora Family Therapy Centre Director of Therapy.  "We take our cars in for tune-ups, and regularly schedule appointments for our teeth or our bodies, yet we tend to take our most important relationships for granted."

The relationship checkup highlights a couple's strengths, and also points out potential trouble spots. The session involves a questionnaire and a discussion with a family therapist. Couples are encouraged to register in advance by calling Aurora Family Therapy Centre at 204.786.9251.

The relationship checkup is not only free of charge, but Cantelon says it should be viewed as a proactive and fun way for all couples to spend time thinking and talking about what's working in their relationship and any challenges.

Aurora Family Therapy Centre, located on UWinnipeg's campus in Sparling Hall, is a non-profit agency offering couple, family and individual therapy on an ability-to-pay basis. For more information, visit  http://aurora.uwinnipeg.ca/index.shtml
