United Way Campaign Kicks Off on Campus

By Ilana Simon

The University of Winnipeg's United Way committee kicked off its 2006/07 campaign with a successful pancake breakfast October 24, 2006 in Riddell Hall.

"The United Way plays an increasingly important role in meeting the needs of the underprivileged and vulnerable members of our society," said Hugh Swan, the University's United Way Campaign Co-Chair. "It's important for The University of Winnipeg community to show its support for the United Way-together we can improve the lives of Winnipeggers in need and make our city a stronger and healthier place in which to live and raise our families."

Swan and Co-Chair Judith Huebner thanked the faculty, staff, students, Ron Paley, and Chartwells for contributing to a great start to the campaign. United Way volunteers want to remind faculty and staff that there’s still time put together a themed basket for the United Way. Please contact p.delorme@uwinnipeg.ca by November 1, 2006.

The baskets will be on display in the Riddell Hall Atrium on November 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 13 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., at which time tickets can be purchased. The draw will take place on November 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the Riddell Hall Atrium.
