Adjustable PMS for the Road Star 10 Years, 1 Month ago
This thread discusses the Content article: Adjustable PMS for the Road Star

I guess I have a question about removing the PMS set screw, do you have to remove the carburator to do this. I have no experience in this area and would rather not go that far the first time.

The first time you access the PMS you need to take the carb off. You need to get the brass plug that covers it off. After that you can get to it with the carb on the bike.

Would that have been done when the shop re-jetted when they installed my V&H exhaust? I haven't looked to see. I guess the gas tank will have to be removed to even take a look, or will removing the air filter be enough. Don't mind the work, just curious.

Yup. They should have done it when they did your bike. But they might have put the plug back in (or not). You'll have to check. You can get at it by just taking the aircleaner off. You'll have to work by feel or use something like a dental mirror.

Yeah they left the plug out. Dental mirror worked great. Kind of a pain to get to, but took it out and soldered a long piece of stiff stranded wire with a bend in it so I can reach it without the mirror.
thanks, Musky

I'm running a Baron's thumb screw for mine. Just about anything is easier than laying on your back with a 2 1/2 inch long screwdriver around a hot engine, huh ? BB
