Convert to run/turn: Road Star Tail light Conversion Procedure 10 Years, 2 Months ago

This thread discusses the Content article: Convert to run/turn: Road Star Tail light Conversion Procedure
I have a 99 RS and decided it was time to convert my turn signals to running light /turn signals using Mr. Tidy's instructions. My problem is that when using either turn signal the tail light and other turn signal dim some as well.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

I think what he is describing is a use of 1157 bulb in the rear like the front turn signal...
rather than the 1156 bulb that Kury makes do double duty...
I would say some dimming of the running lights and tail light while the signal lights both front and rear are drawing may be normal depending on how much load is on the entire charging system headlight passing lamps etc..
A voltmeter would tell if the entire system is being taxed...

I was thinking of trying this set-up and was wondering if the lights dimmed what exactly was done about it. Also did it dim both front and rear lights? This set- up seems to be the simplest way to go, whats your outlook on this?

I just did this conversion and everything works well EXCEPT I can't get the flashers to blink at the normal interval, I am getting the rapid flash in the blinkers, I have checked double checked and checked again and still rapid flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I needed 2 equalizers to stop this. The set up comes with 1. Some folks here have stated they didn't need 2 but I had the same problem and the extra one took care of it.

I just put the kury rtb combo on my bike yesterday and was getting frustrated with the turn signals flashing proper on the left side and fast on the right side. after about 1 hour of tracing stuff I found that the front signal sockets were all corroded and full of rust and the heavy element was not flashing at all. cleaned both the sockets (broke one bulb trying to get it out) and now they blink great with only equalizer in place. havn't tried with no equalizer yet, was running late for work when I finallly got them flashing right, and I just got up from a short bit of sleep. almost time for another 13 hr day.

Before spending more money on the equalizers, I just bought standard red 1157 bulbs (vice red 1157 led bulbs) and the rapid flash is gone, and IMO the standard bulb fills the entire turn signal with more light and seems brighter to me, all the talk about LED's being brighter and better seems mute to me, again IMO. By the way got the standard bulbs on ebay, four red bulbs for $9.90 and free shipping, equalizers were much more than that.

i just did my 03. i found ,for me, he easiest way was to replace the sockets w/1137 sockets and wire the flashers to the green and brown wires and the running light to the blue wire. They blinked fast and dimmed the headlight untill i got a good ground. All is great now and theres nothing better than having those running lights on the rear. It cost me about 10.00
