Fat Tire! 11 Years, 9 Months ago   I know folks who have doen it, but the stock rim is so narrow that it tends to pull the tire in and creates a narrower profile. It doesn't end up looking like a 180 when its installed. Anything beyond a 160 and you would not notice the difference. You need a wider rim. Save your money for custom rims. Fat Tire! 11 Years, 9 Months ago   For a 180/190 tire go with a 5.5" rim. For a 200 - 6.0". Best deals. I dunno Find the tire you like (I like the Metz 880) and see who can offer you one local or on-line at your price. But if you're going to a wider rim then it's time to think about whether to stay with the 16", go with the 17" (lots of choices), or 18" (shows more rim). Some tire models are also limited in diameter range. I am really torn between the gangster look and the Fat tire look. I have been considering going with the RC components 250 single side arm kit but it is so damn expensive. And I also need to be able to take the lady for a ride so would need a fender capable of handling a longer seat for 2. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Fat Tire! 11 Years, 9 Months ago   Luigi, Thanks for the compliment. I suggest you save yourself the trouble and money and leave it alone. I have 18" diameter rims with 3.5" width on the front and 5.5" on the back. Went with the 18" 'cause I wanted more rim and less tire showing. If you're paying big bucks for rims someone might as well see them. The rear tire is a Metzeler 880 ME 180-55; the front is a 130-70. I also like the fat tire look and made a fender but there are two things of which you should be aware; 1. for daily riding - when it rains you'll get real dirty. 2. the fender needs to sit at least 3.5 " above the tire and for me I don't like to have that much space between the tire and fender. The 250 is nice but I don't think I would go above 200. Just my perference.
