If you want speed and pep, the RoadStar won't do it. That's not the kind of bike it is. If you just want transportation and fun cruising up to Quartzsite, LHC, or over to Phoenix, then what you have is fine. Otherwise, as suggested, get a sport bike. EDIT: your bike being an 04 and having power issues, you may want to research the dreaded SVS "sticky valve syndrome" that was an issue with the 04's but easily correctable with proper treatment.
