A new ride 6 Months, 1 Week ago
One day I'm out working on the bike and my neighbor stops by to see what I'm up to. Well one thing leads to another and he confesses that he's pulled the carbs off his bike and can't get it back together. For the next few weeks I do what I can to help but things just go from bad to worse for him until he's so frustrated that he's had it with this machine. The next thing I know he pulls up in the yard with the title in hand and the bike in the back of his truck. It's not a Star but I have to tell you this thing is a Blast to ride!

I love my Triumph. The most "fun" bike I've owned.

Back in 2007, I wanted to try Dual Sport, so I got a 1998 Triumph Tiger 900, very similar to this one in the OP. Now I was a fair dirt bike rider in my youth, no stranger to the outback, so I figured this could be lots of fun. The 900cc triple is a wonderful engine that pulls great all over the RPM range. But, I discovered very quickly that 500+ pound dirt bikes don't stop very good in the dirt, especially with the speed you're able to accumulate very quickly with that big motor. Scared myself pretty good right at the onset, so I conceded to cow trailing from that point on. But I loved that motor, made me curious about the 1200 four cylinder version, so I sold it and got a 1999 Trophy 1200, kind of a sport touring thing. It was wonderful, smooth, powerful, comfortable, reliable, everything you could want in a bike except for a high seat height and a bit top heavy. As my health deteriorated, I decided I better find something with a low seat height if I wanted to keep riding, which led me to my Victory, which led me to my Road Star, which led me to the RSC, which has been my online home away from home. Enjoy your Triumph. I know I did mine.

You're spot on with your description of the bike smooth, powerful and comfortable are exactly how I would describe this machine. An absolute nightmare to work on, but my God it's a great riding experience!

I had a Triumph Sprint 955i and it was the best sport bike I've owned. Loved it. For me I found it easy to work on. In fact I pulled the heads off and ported them and lapped the valves myself without a problem.
