So why did they switch back to 4250 rev limiter on all fuel injected bikes I guess that means that the carbureted bikes are faster

Yeah makes no since to change the rev limiter. I wonder if it's possible to switch it out with one from an older 1700?

No clue, but it's been verified by a couple of members.
I don't think it makes either one faster or slower. I have not pulled 4th to the limiter on my bike (4th is a very slightly overdriven ratio) and everyone will hit the wall of wind in 5th on any bike with 5 gears, and she won't pull no more. While you may enjoy more user friendly shift points at 4750, both HP and Torque are declining at 4250, and more so at 4750. Even though it is spinning faster, it is not accelerating at the same rate it would be by grabbing the next gear. It's classic over rev room that lets you carry a gear farther. I like it a lot, but I don't think it is faster because of it. It is more fun and practical to me though.

It's a guess, but I'd think fuel injection, requires a conference with the Ignitor, on a regular basis. Off hand, I would not think the two are interchangeable. I personally, wouldn't spend the money, to find out. Check the part numbers, and I imagine they're different, from the earlier 99-03 ignitors, and the 04 -07's, also.
