2008 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BUT BIKE RUNS BETTER 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Bought the 08 two months ago. it ran a little rough so I did all the maintenance changed fuel plugs oil and ran some injector cleaner through it.Still had decel pops and seemed to have a flat spot in 3rd and 5th. One day on the way home from a ride the check engine light came on. But when i slowed down no decel pop. Check oil all that everything was good.Started her up and man she is running great flat spots gone more power but check engine light is on. The bike came with Cobra 2-1 and a Cobra commander. It is flashing codes 68 and 24. I have never owned a bike with so much technology on it. Please if you can help that light being on is killing me and I want to ride. Thank you in advance.

Remove the commander and make sure the O2 sensors are connected and working.

Code 24 is o2 sensor failure, code 64 isn't even listed on my sheet.

Thank you, Dave, I am going to have to look at doing this. I am sure I can find it on youtube.

If you have a aftermarket fuel controller the o2 sensors are bypassed so the controller delivers the fuel mix. Do as Shores suggested and remove the aftermarket fuel controller like most all with FI bikes have done and reconnect the o2's. The bike will run a lot better than it does now.

Shores or Dave, I bought my 08 with about the same setup as the poster. When going back to the 02 sensors connected regarding the cammander do i just snip and cap the wires on it or am i also reintalling a stock controller.. because if so i dont believe i have one from the PO. Thanks

I thought the commander was plug n play. DK, never seen one or want to. You must use the stock one and connect your sensors back.

Yeah this one's a trip. I followed the Dyna wires and every wire was hard wired in. Im like wth now what am i gonna do! The PO was the only owner and not a wrencher so i know this was done by a shop.
