Re:RAIDER rear wheel swap 1 Year ago
hey... i know this is a little old, but i just saw it.... great work

i would also like to fatten my tires but from what i know if you only fatten the rear and leave the front stock then your bike will want to fall into corners....? am i wrong...?
i have gone wider rear and front to what you can get away with.... using stock rims and love it. then i bought my second R and the P.O. had put a wider tire on the rear but had stock front, when i took my first corner i nearly dropped the bike, as it just fell into the corner and caught me day dreaming.

I have a Raider and the stock front is even skinnier than the Roadie (plus I have a 240 rear). Even with the rake, it doesn't feel like it flops into corners, so I wouldn't think the Roadie would.

we have to stay on the same page.... apples aint oranges.
design engineers factor in many variables when choosing tire width F/R which all play a roll in handling. moving away from stock will change how how R's handle.
moving away from stock with a wider tire will increase torsional loads on the bike frame, as the opposing force moves farther out to the side while leaning frame distorsion will increase.
just imagine tipping a trike over.....? while i want wider tires i think you should keep within the same F/R ratio set up.

I understand, but rake would exaggerate flop. So less rake with tires that are closer in width should be more stable, right? My Raider is 120 front 240 rear and handles just fine (I'd argue better than stock, as the 240 has a higher crown on the rear rim and tends to roll into corners nicer). Anyway, I was just offering my experience with a big gap between tire sizes, take from it what you wanr (or don't want).
