Good eye. I hadn't put any thought into that.

Just removed the front end tonight. As I was about to remove the stem nut, I realized it was less than finger tight. Spun right off without any resistance. I know it should have a final torque of around 13 ft/lbs. Did I just catch/prevent a future catastrophe?
Spun right off
Parts add up fast
Guess I'm doing it right
Thanks Chris for the endless chat tonight! Appreciated your input!!!
You're quite welcome!
Maybe this has been mentioned, but the top pic of the stem nut, should actually be four seperate pieces, instead of just two. The lower nut does the tensioning, and when it gets right, the rubber washer goes on(supposed to replace that when you do this), then the upper nut threads down finger tight, and just enough more, so the legs on the funky washer, can drop into both nuts. remember to keep the spurs on the nuts pointing at each other, the way the pic shows when reassembling, also.

You are correct. Probably the wrong pic to post. Still, I was shocked that they both spun off together without any resistance.

Here are the 4 parts (minus the dust cap).

Same here. I was surprised they stayed together long enough for a pic.

I thought it was one solid piece at first. Took more pressure to pull them apart than it did removing them from the neck stem.
