#1014731 Vaughan002 (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 6 New clutch plate and springs 8 Months, 1 Week ago   So please forgive me I know this has been asked before but I'm new to this so I have a couple questions I have a 2006 1700 Silverado clutch is slipping and after reading the comments through the site it sounds like it is most likely my springs plate not the friction plates. I have heard Barnett springs and plate mentioned several times is it pretty much a consensus that those are the best. My engine is completely stock. and for just everyday riding are the heavy duty springs necessary? I rarely ride real hard. Also is there a place on this or any site that might have a video to watch, I'm confident in my ability I just figure it wouldn't hurt to check it out. How many miles on it? Don't join the broken clutch basket crowd.   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access. #1014879 Questcap (User) Platinum Boarder Posts: 7727 Re:New clutch plate and springs 8 Months ago   If you have access to a small die grinder, use a medium Rolox disc, and you can buzz any remaining gasket material with no difficulty whatsoever... without nicking up the mating surfaces. Also, use a gasket maker material, follow the directions, and you don't even need to buy a new gasket. I bought the EBC off eBay for some $41 or $42. It works great and is 20% stronger. So, Rolox to save time, and NOT nick up the metal surfaces. Use an inch pound torque wrench, no need for a gasket, if you use a gasket maker material. It's a relatively easy 2 hour job... the re-installing of the throwout rod in the clutch, back into the clutch cover is probably the trickiest, or most careful part.
