Carburator leaking 1 Month, 1 Week ago
Help my carb is leaking gas or let me say this when I flip on the switch and the fuel pump turns on gas seams to be pumping throughout and straight out what I can only assume to be the overflow on the right side which connects to the breather. Has anyone had this problem?

Float is stuck or shut off needle and seat need to be replaced. If it started suddenly, then likely a stuck float. Turn off the petcock, drain the carb bowel of fuel and rap on it with a screw driver handle, etc.

You need to fill out your bike profile so people trying to help know what you have. As it is now we don't know if your bike is carburated or injected, both of which require two different courses of action. I know you said carb when you mentioned your problem, but, believe it or not, some people don't know the difference. I'm not casting aspersions at your mechanical prowess, but there are folks of all levels on here. If it really is the carb (bike is a 2007 or earlier), you could try eliminating the fuel pump to help diagnose your problem. Then when you determine the issue(s) you can decide if you want to keep the fuel pump or get rid of it forever. Many have (myself included) deleted the fuel pump permanently, it's a cheap modification with some additional benefits as well.

And don't worry about wearing out the Forum. You have been on here over 7 years and only posted 40 times. Feel free to contribute anytime you wish, not just when you have problems.

Dump the pump. Worked well for me and it's an easy thing to do.

had the same trouble last year AFTER I went pumpless. My fault, used a old gas can to refill my tank and ended up with some dirt under the float valve.caused flooding everywhere. If you do have a carb there is an excellent article on carb&float valve repair& cleaning in the Tech Articles.Good luck

Needle and seat is stuck open. You can sometimes tap the side of the carb with a screwdriver handle and knock it loose. If not, try removing the carb enough to shake it. If that doesn't work, then you'll need to pull and clean the carb. Run some Seafoam, MMO, or Techron in your fuel regularly, and it'll keep the insides of the carb cleaner and free of the gummy crap that builds up. I generally try and shut my fuel off at the petcock about a minute before i turn the key off and stop the motor, to let the float drop, and lower the needle out of the seat. They can stick closed as well as open, but open seems to happen most often.

Ok thanks I cleaned it awhile back and then let it sit for a bit before I put it back on, so i'm guessing that's my problem just a lil sticking

The needle and seat, are kissing cousins. Quite literally. They are either touching or almost touching while fuel is being forced past, unless the bowl runs dry and lets the float drops. It doesn't take much for a little piece of something to get stuck in the area where the needle and seat make contact, for it to prevent them shutting off the fuel. Without the pressure build up from a proper seal, the pump just does what its designed to do. Pump fuel until it gets sufficient resistence to stop.
