Thanks but I was hoping you could elaborate on it a bit more. Is it mechanical or electric? Where does it drive from? Could it be used on a sidecar or 2 wheeler? Where did you get it? How much does it cost?

I've ridden her trike.
There's a toggle switch with a guard/cover you use to supply power to the electric reverse.
You then push a button and the electric motor drives the bike backward.
There's no speed control on the reverse motor and it's actually kinda fast so make sure you look over your shoulder before you hit the button.

As far as I can tell it's basically a heavy duty starter motor (for a car) complete with a Bendix-type starter drive & solenoid on it.
Hit power and it simultaneously engages the solenoid to push the drive gear onto sprocket on the rear end & spins the starter motor.
Let go of the power switch and the solenoid disengages the drive gear from the sprocket and the starter stops turning.

Just like starting a car, only using an electric motor to turn the wheels instead of the engine.
Most kit trikes with reverse work this way & I'm pretty sure Goldwings do the same thing.
Not sure if HD trikes use an electric motor on reverse, I've never ridden one newer than a 1957 Servi-Car.

So as far as you can tell this reverse wouldn't work on a 2 wheeler or a sidecar rig?

It is an electric reverse /there is a motor that runs off the rear axel / I got it from Kool Trikes here in Johnson Creek Wisconsin when they triked my bike. You would have to call him to see if it would fit what you want to use it for..920-648-4800..

Thanks for the info. Two things have stopped me from putting a side car on my Road Star... having a reverse and having the money. Guess they're both out. I stand by waiting to be showered with pity for my miserable existence.
