Help me choose exhaust 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I like the looks and price of the Cobra dragsters http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/cobra-dragsters-exhaust-yamaha-xv1700-road-star-08-14/part/BLV2622T

Will I give up much in terms of performance with these pipes? I don't mind losing a little power. Does anyone have these?

My second choice in terms of looks and price is probably the Cobra speedster longs http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/cobra-speedster-longs-straight-cut-chrome-yamaha-xv1700-road-star-road-star-s-08-up/part/BLV2922T

Any other suggestions in the <$650 price range? I don't really like the 2-into-1s for the look I'm going for, nor true duals.

Between those two, judging solely on looks, I'd go with the dragsters, I like how the different length of the pipes breaks up the bike a little. The speedsters look too straight and flat to me...

Although, without seeing your bike, its hard to tell, I also like these: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/6983/i/vance---hines-shortshots-staggered-exhaust-system

Right now my bike is disassembled for painting, but I'm going for the classic cruiser, whitewalls-and-chrome look

really not a fan of the cobra's and the long shots have been done a million times and look good.

Low and loud for a "classic cruiser" look.

The Vance & Hines Long Shot HS (Heat Shield) will look as good in 20 years as they do now. Really good quality chrome.

I do not know about the looks of the SpeedStars, but the big part there is that they are not truly independent, they have a connection between the two pipes. Helps a bit with the drag pipe sag.

If that's the look you want you need a 2 into 1 with a long straight fishtail at the end. The pipes coming off the heads should have that "flex pipe" look to them. I have seen this pipe on other Roadstars, but I don't know who makes it. Maybe someone else does. That would the most "traditional" look you could do.

This set is the Roadhouse 2-1, they came with either straight shields or the serated. Would be a very find but I agree that this would be my choice too.
