Installing a V.O.E.S. for the Mikuni HSR carburetor 10 Years, 4 Months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: Installing a V.O.E.S. for the Mikuni HSR carburetor

I was wondering if this setup will work with a speedstar comp ign module, as they do not use the TPS...?

Thanks Musky,, I spent today just tinkering with it,, The carb isn't much different than the hsr42, infact they both use the same re-build kit..one thing that's odd is the pms screw works the opposite from the stock carb..who knows anyway, last week when I took the fuel pump off, I also had to change the float needle and valve,, so while I was in there, I put a little richer pilot jet and a leaner main needle,, In hind site maybe I should not have changed so many things at once. anyway after messin with it today, My initial feeling is it is running very good..but have not been able to check milage yet..Still interested in the VOES if anyone cares to chime in..

Flash if you want to talk about the VOES go to the RSR site alot more of the guys run the 42 and 45 carbs there...also have you run a full tank yet without the pump I am interested when you switch to reserve. I am having to swap at around 125 miles leaving a couple of unused gallons of gas when I hit reserve ....the fact that it needs to switch so early has me perplexed as soon as I switch I can get on the throttle hard with no problem I plan on getting out with a couple of mayo jars full of gas and running till it quits totaly so I will know what my range is ......Coug

Thanks for the rsr tip, I have browsed the site some but haven't gotten into it much yet..I figure Randy will show up eventually, as he wrote the artical.. As for fuel milage, I don't know yet how it will work out as I only had maybe a half a gallon in the tank when I did the work on it ...I filled it up today and will watch it next week.. I went sailing up at Lanier yesterday,, man, I have never seen it that low,,,

Just an RSR heads up. The search doesn't work at all. So if you want to find something older than what is still in the folders you're SOL.

Flash,

Good question. Let me see if I can find that out for sure. It won't be tonight.

I'm pretty sure that the answer is no, however. I didn't remember that the SpeedStar Ignition Module ignored the TPS (why?) .

Anyway, if it ignores the input from the TPS from a stock carb, it'll ignore the input from anything else.

Hope this helps for now.

It's no big hurry Randy, Im not doing any more with my bike until after Christmas.. I just assumed the comp module ignored it, only because, when the hsr was put on, the stock ign mode was causing the engine light to come on,, which was caused by the tps being disconnnected, when I intalled the comp ign module, it cleared the light, so I figured it didn't care weather there was a tps or not... Things are running well, but there is always a quest for more..
