Looks better, gets rid of the remote reservoir, and makes more work for yourself over the winter.

Oh yes Jamie's answer nailed it. LMAO!

First advantage is yes it cleans up the ugly plastic bottle resevoir with a black rubber line. Second it seems to give better pressure to the rear brake. Can you live without it. Yes! I did the conversion for the first time on my 2000 R* when I converted it to a trike and the crappy yamaha master cylinder would not give enough pressure to make the dual 4 piston calipers on the trike differential work. I liked the look and how it worked so well that I also did it to my 02 R*. And yes it made a big difference in brake pedal pressure even on the stock rear caliper. 3rd advantage is should you ever need to replace it your not restricted to that outrageous price that yamaha charges for their piece of crap.
