Hey Gennaro,
Doesn't Google Maps pause your music when it breaks in with directions ? I use my phone all the time for tunes, but haven't tried directions at the same time because I heard that's what happens.

yes, but that's not a problem for me. not like it's constant chatter.

I have a Garmin Zumo that I love. Two things it won't do is sync with other apps from my phone and real time traffic. I was running for a delivery service and Google Maps worked very well (including keeping up with traffic). It chews up data.

here are some 1490shttps://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B003ZX8B3W/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all[/quote]

Thanks mrjeff, I haven't seen those. I'll take a closer look.
The 1490 is truly the only one, at a decent price, I saw that is great in direct sunlight

Garmin 1450LMT. It is a factory refurbished unit that was on sale at Cabela's. Cell phones, (depending on your carrier - mine is Sprint)are unreliable due to their dependence on cell towers. Whenever I go down to the Three Twisted Sisters area, the only time I get any service in the area is around Junction. I have used the above mentioned GPS on two trips from Dallas to OKC and on west on old Rte.66 , with several side trips. Gas station notifications were handy although some of the locations turned out to be abandoned, burned down or leveled - NOT a good discovery when running low on gas. Last year, on the return leg, I was running low on cash, but remembered seeing a few branches of my bank in Albuquerque. It took some doing, and accessing the features of the GPS that I'd been unaware of, but I accomplished my mission (even rode through an active crime scene unknowingly. Found out after having to retreat back to the city due to torrential rains seen ahead on my planned route). AFA weather-proofing, it was simple enough to unplug the device and put it in my weatherproof tank bag until out of the rain.

I was going to ask the same thing but more about a bar mounted version if available.

We use Tom-Tom's in our cars and they work great but they have the window suction mounts. I don't run a windshield on my bike, with no plans to do so.

Does anyone run their GPS on their bars?

I was thinking of designing/rigging a sun shield around the unit like we do with our monitors for our filmmaking cameras. Even played with the idea of manufacturing something if someone hasn't already beat us to it (a screen with a clamp-on sun and weather shield).

We get way too much sunlight (and heat) around here so sitting in the direct sun probably isn't the best idea.

Oh I found some good stuff including a Tom Tom motorcycle GPS that you can ask to find curvy roads! But the price.... OUCH.

Even has a sun shade for motorcycle GPS systems.
