Now, Saddle bags,,, 2 Weeks, 2 Days ago
|
|
Okay, everyone who said the bags I had on my bike wouldn't work with the stock exhaust system, you were right. Harley hard bags are just a little too long. Can't see any good coming out of the bag sitting on the pipe. So,, what suggestions are out there for me to consider? And if something can be found, there will be a set of Harley bags for sale. Or maybe me and my Dremel can modify them,,,,,,

Some have modified the stock bag brackets if you don't mind the bags a little higher.

Plenty of pipes work with hd bags. Duals work great but any low slung pipe will work. Pretty much look for pipes that sit under the rear wheel axle will work.

See, there's the problem. I ditched the lower mounted Cobra pipes and put ON a stock exhaust system. And of course, these sit about 3" higher than the Cobras did. Simply moving them up would be no problem EXCEPT for the rear turn signal lights. Since the Harley bags are slanted, moving them up also moves them forward. Enough to get into the seating area. This is a 2003 limited edition and from I can see, the turn signals on the rear are different than other years I've seen pictures of on this site.

That’s one of the reasons why I didn’t like the HD bags. I did make an adapter that moved the entire tail light bracket rearward 1” and that worked, but still decided to go with lowered stock hard bags.
