Would the archive include photos that are hosted by PhotoBucket? I’m in for $20.

I don't think so, only images hosted on the RSC unless the person keeping their pics on PB has a paid package.

Has anyone figured out how to just use one of the PB plugins in a browser to run through and archive the site?

People are jumping in at the $20 for the text archives,
I still think a DVD with photos would be worth a quick $50 or more.

Thanks

If I understand correctly, the problem with the broken PhotoBucket links, is the photos are no longer available on the PB site without a paid PB membership. And even if there were a plugin that could be added to the original RSC to make they appear, they'd still likely be served up on the PB backend... And I'm not even sure if we have access to the RSC backend to make any changes. Right now I believe the only person who can do that is Gram and he's unavailable.

The archive will only picked up the links the photo is pointing to. So any photos that are hosted *on* the RSC server will be included in the archive and any hosting services, like Flicker, etc. will appear as long as the photo hosting service makes them available.

As for a DVD, that's something that could be consider after the archive is created if someone is willing to undertake it. We will have two copies of the archived site available for backup purposes from Archive.org, besides what will be available on line, but I'm not sure if we have the right to copy and distribute. I'll check with Archive.org to see if that's even possible. Copyright issues aside, I'm not certain the entire site would fit on a single DVD or how many it would take... it could be quite a few.

Is there a reason why you'd want to DVD instead of the online version?

I think it was the Photobucket extension fix that fixed that issue with PB fairly well.. for me anyway. I think the tech Archive plan is a great idea. It will always be at the mercy of the host sites that were used for the pictures whether that be flickr, PB, imurg etc. But even if some of the pictures are broken I think it's still a bargain..... to have access to all that can still be gleaned.

Mike, I misread your original post; it's not just the tech articles... it's $20 to save the ENTIRE site... On line... Indefinitely.
