This thread discusses the Content article: 04 Road Star AIS Removal
hey guys. hope everyone had their scoot out or at least getting it roadworthy like me for the past couple of days. I just lubed the old star and was getting ready to start polishing chrome around the mill and decided to yank the ais(didnt buy a kit yet). So I left the ais tubes mounted to the jugs and just connected one of the rubber hoses from the #1 cyl. tube to the #2 cyl. tube. Has anyone ever done this to theirs with negative affects as a result? If so just let me know and Ill insert a plug between the two tubes. Thanks for your expert opinions as always, Vick

That and make sure you plug the vacuum line from the manifold. Has the same affect as full removal. I did something similar on my '03, but performed complete removal today. I will be back with a link to an inexpenxive address for a kit (I got mine for $8 online and had it in hand in 3 days).

Hey Breeze wassup? Yeah plugged the manifold first. You saying I need a plug between the 2 tubes? Seems to me like they would just kinda cancel each other out but stranger things have happened.

You have it right. Looping them is correct. I was just making sure that you plugged the vaccuum too.

AIS doesn't have anything to do with performance. It is after combustion, so it has nothing to do with the power. Strictly emissions. It does help to eliminate a lot of the puffing, farting and backfire caused by the fresh air being added to the exhaust.

yeah I didnt expect much in the way of performance but it is a vacuum operated accessory and sometimes an improvement in vacuum loss translates to power but it must be a miniscule amount. Good shootin the breeze with you bro-sorry had to say it. Have a good nite and I'll catch you around, Vick
