#3916 eauque (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 13 Inexpensive Bike Stand 12 Years, 2 Months ago   This thread discusses the Content article: Inexpensive Bike Stand This looks really good! Does it lift the tires (even individually) off the ground? Almost looks like they're both touching ground in the photo. Could you move the stand toward the front to lift/remove weight from the front wheel? If I had 2 of them, could I take both wheels off the bike? Is that spot in the photo where you have the jack the balance point of the bike? Looks like a 2 person job. Can one person lift the bike with this? I bought the materials today. I got plain pine instead of Pressure Treated because it'll glue up better. I managed to find a 1" pipe. I'm gonna try that without the dowel and see how it works. Thank you! I made one of these and I love it, one wheel comes off the ground at a time depending where you place the lift. I covered the top of the boards with felt to make it easier to lift and non abrasive to the frame. Old strips of inner tube, some of the tougher foam stripping (like weather stripping at the hardware store) etc... This is a great idea. I hadn't been to that article in a long time... Works great!! I love it...as a matter of fact my bike has been on it for the past week doing mods... and waiting for a part from the stealer! It is very sturdy, I even rocked the bike back and forth to try and see if it would fall off and it doesn't move. I used self adhesive felt pads that I had laying around just make sure you put your padding a litle over the edge that hits the bike first.   Logged     03 Silverado   The administrator has disabled public write access.
