Stay away from the sintered pads. I had a set of SBS sintered on the back of mine and within 5,000 miles they started doing a number on the rotor. I'm all for stopping power, but not at the expense of damaging the rotor. A new rotor costs $150 pads are $30. I just replaced them yesterday with EBC organics (FA123) and I really can't tell much difference.

Got them at my local shop. They're a popular brand so I'm sure you can find them just about anywhere that stocks aftermarket parts. Mine's an '06 so verify part number for your year before ordering. Also, spoke vs. cast wheels might make a difference. I don't know.

That's odd...are the O3's brake rotors that different in composition from the 05's? I've been running sintered pads for the last 25k miles and I'm about to replace them soon. I didn't notice any unusual galling...I just checked the rotor thickness and I'm still at .193" (min .18" per spec, new is .20" .
The sintered pads work ALOT better than the stock organic pads, at least in my case. At 41k I'm not about to switch back. My 2 cents

Maybe it was just the compound of the SBS pads. All I know is that my rotor didn't like them at all.

I'm guessing your caliper was hung up, or you were riding the pedal. Sintered pads generally last 35-50K miles under normal use. Also organics suck when they are wet.
Also, my '03 lost the rear pads at 5K and trashed the rear rotor because my Father-In-lAW (R.I.P.) was riding the brake with his heel when he put his feet up on the Lindby bar. It has happened to a few people. I inherited the bike with 9K miles on it, and it now ahs 46K, with Sintered pads and a new stock rotor on the back. The caliper was cocked in the bore and ground the pads away unevenly and the backing plate cut the rotor. That is what usually happens when the brake gets abnormally hot.
Another 2 pennies.

None of that. I've been riding it the same for the last 50K. The sintered pads were wearing fine. Still lots of life left in them. The only reason I got to looking was a loud squeak the last couple feet before a complete stop. Very irritating. That's when I discovered the rotor was not wearing right. Swapped them out for the EBC organics and all has been well since. BTW...I got nearly 45K out of the original organics.
