Tranny recall, clutch plate spring question 9 Years ago
Just got off of the phone with the service manager at the dealership where my bike is having the tranny recall done. I'm going to have the oil pump gear done & replace the clutch plate spring. He told that there are 3 Yami springs to choose from 7%, 20% & 27% stiffer & recommended I have the 20% stiffer spring installed. What do you think? Any advice would be appreciated.

Which of the three did he say was in the bike? A stronger clutch spring than the original OEM is recommended.

java,

I think his point was that each one was stronger than the original by the numbers he gave.

Personally, if you could afford it, I would go with the Barnett SR-2 pressure plate... you would not be sorry....

I guess I'd ask if he'd experienced any slipping problems before, and how many miles already on the original.

They've not taken the bike apart yet. This was a preliminary conversation we'd had. I mentioned to him that I'd had issues with the clutch last fall & wanted to know what his thoughts were. My guess would be that the spring is stock. I don't pull a trailer & the riding I do is mixed city & highway. If I have it replaced which one should I have installed?

My bike has 28000km or 17400mi on it. Last fall I had to have the clutch cable adjusted, too much play, afterwards it felt like it was slipping in high gear. How much is the Barnett?

If they haven't taken the bike apart yet, then you should also look into the hi compression pistons and valve springs! Plus you can have the clutch springs done also, man will those pistons change the sound of your bike...wow.
They will swing a deal with you for installation if they already have it apart, it will save you a ton of money, just something to think about.
