It took the dealer 3 weeks. I had problems with mine when I took it in for the tranny recall. Missing bolts etc, I took it back and they repaired it so so. The bike died when I started to drive it out of their drive way. They again repaired it and I drove it the 106 miles home. I repaired what they didn't and have not had problems since.

The good news is they have done 6 ahead of you already a few more to come before they get to yours. They are going to be way ahead of the learning curve and should be fine.

If they had employed Yami-trained techs, there would be no learning curve.

I took mine to a shop a friend who had been a Yami tech told me to take it too.

They had it a week. When I went back, the tech himself started it up for me, and off I went... everything was perfect!

Mine's going in this Saturday. Gotta say I'm a little nervous about pulling the motor apart when she's running great. I found a Yami dealer not too far & had a good conversation with the service manager sounded like he know what he was talking about, said they've done more that 30 of these. I'd love some feed back about parts that should be replaced while it's apart, not upgrades want to keep it stock.

Definatly going to take some pictures.

Hope things go well for you Cartersta

I think if I ever is a next time to let a dealer do work on my bike I'll be sure to drop it off while a representative of the dealership is with me so they can witness me taking digital photos of the bike from lots of angles. Then I'll pop out the memory card, put it in an envelope, seal it up and make the rep. sign on the seal along with me.

That way no question about he physical appearance of the bike when possession is taken. I've just heard too many stories from folks about dents, scratches and such.

I don't think there is much worse than handing off your ride to a stranger. Especially when you've got blood, sweat and hard-earned money into it. Feel for you guys. Here's hoping everything works out fine.

Re:dropped of at the dealer for tranny recall 9 Years ago
I had mine done about a year ago.
Stopped at the dealer and he ordered the parts.
Dealer called when parts came in and I dropped her off for a couple days
Dealer asked to keep it another day because one lifter was noisey, they flushed it out and ran it and was good.
I picked it up and when I started it the mechanic was there and the noise was back.
They replaced the lifter and Yamaha paid for it
I only put about 12k miles on that bike last year but they were all good

Re:dropped of at the dealer for tranny recall 9 Years ago
the good news is, he is a yammy trained tech, i've been doing business with this dealer since 1992, bought a 4 wheeler from them, so they know me, they have serviced this bike and replaced the tires, i aint stupid tho, i took everything off, saddlebags, cupholder, mustang seat, tools, just carried them the bare bike, the less to get torn up or sticky fingered, will report when i get back, the service man said his motor guy could almost do it with his eyes closed, i said that was ok, but prefered them to be open
