I built one of the formentioned wooden stands........they work awesome........for certain aplications!......bike is amazingly sturdy on it, but to do tires or anything else that the bike needs a lot of ground clearance for, its not so good. I used mine for steering bearing adjustments and oil change. I found an awesome deal on a bike jack/lift from a friend, $100 new! .....it is a pretty sweet tool to have as well!........but I still have the homemade one around....just in case!

I saw one years ago that tipped and when you rolled the bike up on it, it would level off and the back part of the ramp was hinged to drop and hold it level!

I have 2 of those and gave 1 to my brother as a gift . They are really sturdy and easy to reposition with a bike on it. I highly recommend.
