Bad Sta-bil ?? 11 Years, 3 Months ago
Here's the problem guys... Got real cold here lately so I figured I might as well get the roadie ready and put her away for a few months. filled the tank, added the recommended amount of Sta-bil to it,rode about 10 miles, done. Today it's going to reach 70 degrees! Gotta go one more time. Got the bike out early this morning, still a little cool out, choked it and it started fine. Got ready to roll after a 10 minute warmup and it just didnt have the power. Rode 15 miles to my yamaha dealer , bought plugs (only 2), put them in ...still runs bad. o.k., maybe the sta-bil was bad. It was new but maybe it laid around awhile in a store. drained the gas, changed the filter, still runs like crap.Sounds like its running on 1 cylinder at idle, gets a little better as you pick up speed, but not the same ole' R. could it possibly be the 2 right side plugs? thats next. After that I dont know..... any ideas? Oh yea.... It was up to 70 degrees as this was going on.

Just my opinion but Sta-bil sucks when it's brand new, slighty aged or mummified. Use Sea foam. Works great and your bike won't run like crap.

Hmmm ... I've used it in my riding mowers before and never had a problem. Probably wont use it any more. I just dont know if it would cause all the plugs to foul, but it is the only thing I did to the bike before I put it away. Then it starts running like crap when I bring it out.

Cougar.... dumb thing to do , no time. just figured with two I would see a difference, but didnt. I'm going to put the other 2 in this weekend when I have time, heading out of state tonite for a few days. I just hate leaving without doing the plugs first... I'll be wondering the whole time if thats the problem.

I am just saying if it was the Sta-Bil when you changed the gas it should have solved your problem ...if it runs but lacks power sounds like the spark not the gas to me..like when you change wires on a car and leave a wire loose or plug it back wrong....Coug
