If the carb is virgin then you will need to take it off to get the brass cap off the PMS.

If it's not then you just need a small screwdriver.

The carb Tech Articles will help you identify the location of the PMS.

OK guys, I wouldn't call it "Puking" it is more like a cough. WHen I begin to slightly give it throttle to begin releaseing clutch, sometimes it almost dies or coughs, sounds like through carb but not sure? What is it telling me?

Also, How far do you have to run plugs before you can check the condition to read it for rich, lean, etc?

You should get a small squirt of gas right in the carb throat when you twist the throttle. Take you air cleaner off and see if you are getting it and that it starts as soon as the grip starts turning. The bike doesn't need to be running to do it. If not go to the tech articles and read the write up adjusting the accelerator screw. Also check your float level. It wouldn't hurt to read through the entire carb section in the tech articles. It will give you a much better understanding of how things work.

Plugs are only part of the story. What they look like at idle won't tell you much about how your needle or main jet are. As said before don't worry about lean. Keep track of you mileage through 2 or 3 tanks of gas and see what your getting.

I will check mileage for a few tanks. I'll check for squirt. It actually stalled today once when leaving stop sign.

I checked the accell. pump today. It squirts like described. At Idle, it just seems to stumble. I checked mileage after 157 miles, 3.47 gal, keep in mind speedo error on roadstars, also ran much of those in strond head wind.

Set your PMS the way I posted earlier in the thread if you haven't already. You need to average out your MPG over several tanks. One ride will just mislead you one way or the other.

Musky, I tried to set the PMS as you described earlier but, 1- I don't have a tack so I just let it warm up and then let it idle so it was somewhat smooth. 2 - I was able to turn it in until it began to slumber a bit but when I screwed it out, I screwed it to the point
I was afraid it was coming out so I stopped. I really didn't see a change.

I kinda have this problem too... The coughing and the PMS doesn't seem to make a huge difference in the smoothness of the idle. I can crank it way down or way out without much change. This really bothers me, but I can't figure out what's wrong.
