when to switch 7 Years, 11 Months ago
What is the general opinion about when to switch to a synthetic oil. After 1000,2000,3000... miles?

If you intend to use synthetic, why not with first oil change. Either way, JMO but first oil change should be 500-600 mi. Majority of damage (metal particles)is during the breakin of an engine. A good filter may be a higher priority.

Did my first oil change on the roadie at 600 miles. Switched to syn when I did it again at 3000 miles. Honestly didn't notice a difference in heat or engine noise either way.

The first oil change is recomended at 500 or 600 miles I believe. At that point it is ready to go to synthetic!

Yeh, you can definitely switch after that first 600 miles.

Change your oil and filter after 100 miles or so. Get all the new motor stuff out of there. Don't need to go to syn at that time but you should change it. For sure at 600 your good for syn. Probably sooner is fine but 600 is definitely good. My .000002 cents anyway.

+1
I changed at 70 and went syn. I knew it was a bit early but figured it shouldn't hurt this motor. Been going strong ever since.
