HSR42 not returning to Idle Quickly 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Hey guys. I have had the Mikuni HSR42 up and running for about a year now. I have noticed that when I roll off the throttle that the engine does not return to idle quickly. I read the mikuni tuning manual but it didn't describe this situation anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions? I suspect maybe my pilot circuit needs some adjusting?

Here are my current settings:

170 main
30 pilot
97 needle (2nd clip)
PMS two turns out
70 accel pump.

Make sure your throttle cable is not binding somewhere.

Could be a vacuum leak.

What Tim said or cable routing has changed enough to bind it inside OR needs lubing. I have been running my HSR for several years with no problem and they are stock R* cables.

disconnect the cable and move the throttle manually to see if that fixes your issue. If it does the cables are binding if it don't check for the vacuum leak as Tim mentioned.

If you still have the dual cable setup you can manually idle it. If that works then your cables need lube...............
