Hello, another from ontario canada, 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi all, after yrs of sport touring bikes i have decided to give cruisers a go so my wife can be more comfy on the back, tested a few but the best i found in price range and comfort was a 2003 midnight star, has memphis shades batwing with quick release, after market rear seat with backrest, 3" hard krome pipes, kuryakin velocity filter and jet kit etc, if there are any members on here who live within a rideable distance i would like to meet to let them ride my bike to see if all is good etc, i say this as after reading about how this was the biggest motor in 03 and more torquey than others i feel it to be really slow, it may just be coming from 1200 bandit although the roadstar is supposed to have way more torque than the bandit , it seems to turn fuel into noise rather than forward motion, i can still cruise at 120km/h two up with no issues but it doesnt seem like it has much more, i know i need to adjust to the cruiser mindset and i am really enjoying riding it and learning through this forum , i will post pics soon,

From Halifax N.S. I have a 2003 also and really like it. What I like about it is how retro it looks. I find it a great riding bike and for it size, some what nimble. I rode a souped-up Harley Dyna and appreciated the weight, comfort, leg room the Road Star more than ever. If you ride to Nova Scotia drop a line and I know where to get the best steaks around.

Greetings from Mississauga.

Comparing the Roadie to a Bandit is tough call, certainly on this forum. Yes the Roadie has more torque, but the powerband, HP & 250lbs would leave the Roadie wanting. 2-up with a bat-wing even more so. I would say though the RS cruising at 120-130kmph should be quite achievable, after that, you are correct, you hear the drawing gas and louder exhaust but you've hit a wall ... I equate it to MacBeth's soliloquy of "Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing". I also came from sport-touring, but my right wrist was always getting me in trouble. I find the fact that the Roadie comes to a logical end somewhere around 140 to be a nice built-in license-saving device .

And welcome aboard!
