A quieter ride 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hello out there. Since I've gotten this Roadstar, I have decided that I really like it over my old Intruder. But, it's kinda loud. I don't know for sure what the specific pipes are but they are Cobras. They do have baffles in them (about 14" long)but no packing around them. What would you suggest that I could do to get the decibel level a little lower? There doesn't seem to be much space between the core of the baffle and the inside of the pipe, maybe 3/8 inch?

You could get different baffles for them.

I have Cobra speedster longs with bafflers that were hollow on mine. They were way to loud for me. I removed the ones that were in there and installed some Cobra quite bafflers. There were about $35.00 each. Still has great sound, but not that ear piercing sound. Still make plenty of noise when you crank down on it!

Well, went and got some fiberglass mat and wrapped both baffles in it. Seems quieter but still not quite what I want. Guess it's gonna be either different baffles or maybe I can find an original exhaust system,,,

You can find an original exhaust system quite easily. I have seen them priced anywhere between free and $500.00. Go figure

Hmmm, I kinda like the free ones,, maybe there's some out there?? Hope to sell some stuff soon and that should free up some money to get some different baffles or maybe even pipes.

From The Colony,Texas roughly 127 miles north west of you. Or about 20 Miles north of Dallas. Yes those Cobras are a little loud but not as bad as my Bub Studbbies. If you get over this way let e know I have a few tricks we can try. I had a set like you have on my old VStar.

Yeah, sometimes wonder about how much the "shipping services" can cost. That's why I'm trying to sell one of my radio controlled sail boats here. putting it in a box big enough for the mast would cost more than I can sell it for.
