front wheel -- left or right side?? 8 Years, 9 Months ago
i have a cast(MAG) wheel that I am mounting a tire on, so my question, is there a left and right side for the wheel (not the tire as I know there is a directional arrow)? this wheel did not come off my bike and already has the rotors on it. the bike is an 07 road star silverado.

I don't know about the Roadie as my wheels are spoked, but my previous bike (Virago) had a directional arrow on it.

Good question. Is the old tire already off it? If not , mount the new tire in the same direction. BB

I just looked at my front wheel, and I cannot find anything saying left or right, so I assume you can mount it either way, the spacers look the same on either side also, but what I would do....before you mount the tire, install the wheel on the bike with axle, spacers, and brake calipers, posibly trying it on both ways, just to see if it makes a difference before installing the tire on the wheel, other than that the bearings will roll just as good both ways.

They are not directional. I was through mine a few times, it makes no difference.

Not sure about your mag wheel, but the factory cast wheels that came on my 08 roadstar silverado are directional. On the front wheel hub is a mark that shows rotational direction.

well, smith1j, you are correct this MAG wheel also has a directional arrow on the hub (a small arrow i might add). I had already mounted the tire before i got your reply and guess what? yes, the wheel is on backwards, that is my luck, so i get to take it off and put it back on (maybe it will be easier the second time, you think).
thank you so much, i don't know what would have happened but i am glad i dont have to find out.

You're welcome. Glad to help out. Just sorry the info didn't get to you in time before you mounted your tire. The arrow is hard to see. When I took my wheel off and took it up to get the new tire mounted I asked them if it made a difference and they then pointed out the small arrow to me.
