Hey all, new member here. I suppose I would be from Austin, but since me and the GF broke up who knows where I'll land. I'm making the move from a GSX-R to a cruiser, and picked up an 04' Road Star in Raven/Raspberry 2-tone. I've ridden cruisers before, but they were always older bikes. Had a '79 Yamaha XS-750 Midnight that I rode for years. Got the Road* on 7/13 and have put a hair over 2k miles on it thus far.

I'm lucky, in that I work from home, so I can roam around and work from anyplace I have decent cell coverage. I plan on spending the next several months exploring the US. The only downside so far has been my clutch cable blowing out, and then the replacement doing the same (luckily I'd kept the patched original. I'm currently 'stranded' in DFW until next week when I get paid (spent too much money on hotels in the last stretch, oops). Need to replace the tires as I've managed to ride the rear to cords exposed. I have a set waiting for me in Austin, but I'm not chancing 300 miles with that patch exposed. My luck would end up with it blowing out.

Does anyone know of a place I can get a decent used rear as well as get it mounted and balanced (all my tools are in Austin, hard to pull a rear without them)? I would hate to spend money on a new set of tires when I already have a fresh set of Dunlop American Elites sitting 200 miles south of me.

Anyway, glad to be part of the 'board. I've fallen in love with the RoadStar, and will probably burn through at least one more set of tires before the season closes. If anyone out there wants to ride along for a stretch while I explore, give me a shout.

I'd say buy the tires you need when and where you are when you need them. Especially since you think you'll blow through a set before winter, you can use the set you have at home the next time around. Sorry, can't help with suggestions on where to buy unless you were in my area.
