No Bikes allowed 3 Months ago
Just thought I would give people a heads up if they ever want to ride in the Monterey Ca. area.

So the weather out here in Northern Ca. is in the high 60's low 70's perfect fall riding, so I decided to take the F6B out for a 300+ mile ride out to Monterey Ca.
.
One of the big attractions is the 17 Mile Drive located just outside of Monterey. It's beautiful. The road runs along the coast of Carmel and right thru Pebble Beach Golf course. I've been on this road I don't know how many times in my car, and it never gets old.

So I pack up the GF and we head out to check out 17 Mile Drive. I figured, do the drive on the bike, and have lunch in Carmel or Monterey after. I pull up to the gate along with the rest of the cars to pay my money to drive the 17 Miles, and the guard stops me and tells me they don't allow Motorcycles. I'm like WTF . I guess they haven't allowed bikes on this beautiful stretch of California for over 20 years, go figure. So after having to flip a freaking u turn in the middle of traffic, I had to settle for just lunch in Monterey. Ahhhh poor me

So just a word to the wise, if you're ever out this way on a bike and want experience 17 Mile Drive, take Uber

Found out the same way several years back. About 12 of us took a two night stay in Monterey. One day rode up to Alice's Restaurant, and the next day up to Santa Cruz and back. But the first day on the way up that was going to be our plan, take that 17 mile drive and come into Monterey that way. Pretty surprised when we got turned away.

The result of liberal politicians screwing the state of California up for decades.

I've ridden that loop many year ago. Sad to see a once beautiful state being destroyed.

Nah, probably the golfers at Pebble Beach don't want their swings ruined by loud bikes passing by. When you pay that much to play you sure don't want the experience ruined. Don't know for sure, but I'd betcha that's it.

Not really surprising coming from a state that wants to rule the world though CARB.

That's exactly why.
I lived out there when they enacted the law & it was the 'high dollar cork sniffers' that pushed that one through.

It's a private toll road & not a public roadway, only residents can use it for free.
Their road, their rules.

Hate to break it to you but it has to do with the uber rich that inhabit that area not wanting to hear motorcycles. Been that way a long time.
Got nothing to do with politics or being lefties or anything else.

I was wondering how that worked,
