Independent M/C shops in the DFW area 2 Years, 1 Month ago
Earlier, I posted that Crossroads Cycle had abruptly closed it's service department, but yesterday, as I drove by High Five Cycles on I635, something didn't look right. I discovered on their Facebook page that HFC had sold all their inventory to Al Lamb Honda (across the hwy from them and were now selling used cars. Apparently the economy is shutting down the independents. Brown's Cycles in Mesquite was suggested by the women at CC, but they are exclusively for H-D. Do any of the members in this area know of any GOOD independent shops where we can get our bikes worked on and tires changed?

I know of two in WACKO, but that's a tad far for you, but he's good. I buy all my tires from an independent who mounts and balances them for me but that's as far as he goes on a metric oh and will dyno one. Plus I buy all my leather and stuff from him, he believes in making a living but not off of one sale. If worst comes to worst I'll help you out down here as best I can

Tire changes on removed wheels, I'd say Bates Cycles #2 in Carrolton on the south side of the I-35E service road, just south of Valwood Parkway, or call Stroker's and check what they get to do them. As far as wrenching, I have not taken a bike to a shop for scheduled work since 2000 when Honda Suzuki North handed my Shadow 750 back to me with a loose chain, no rear brakes, 3 fresh scratches, about 300 fingerprints, and the valve covers not even removed from the bike on what was supposed to be a "break-in" service. I called them lying, incompetent pieces of shit in front of the rest of the customers, and voiced loudly what was wrong with my bike. I did that because the service manger acted like I expected too much, to be given back a bike that actually had the work I paid for accomplished, and at the very least the fingerprints wiped off the damn thing.

I took that same bike to my buddy's shop down south just to give him the labor money on an insurance claim. I did most of the work myself, but I needed a brick and mortar shop to give the check to.

I don't let anyone else touch my bikes anymore.

May be to far for you but Charlie and Annette own this little shop so just tell him I sent you and he will do you right. Besides we can chat if ya like or ride up here and we can take the tire off and they can change it they do all my tire changes.

For tire changes, two wheel world in Garland will include mount and balance in the purchase price of a tire...prices are reasonable but not necessarily the cheapest. The last time I spoke with the owner,he was looking to retire,so you might have to see if they are still in business.
As far as mechanical issues and maintenance I prefer to do my own so I guess my comments for this thread are not much more than submarine screen doors

Just stopped by Crossroads today. There is a new owner who is currently interviewing 'technicians', and is trying to get the shop back on its feet and do homage to the previous owner. Appears to be a pretty nice guy, and from talking to him, if he follows through with what he told me, should produce a decent shop. I already filled him in on some of the Yamaha forums and clinics.
