So I'm at a conference in San Antonio from today till friday. I was thinking about renting a bike on Thursday and riding around. Any advice where to rent a bike or where to go. If anyone is around San Antonio and would like to join in on a ride let me know.

Just don't take a leak on it, they ran Ozzy out of town for that.

There are a few rental places. Definitely head west out to Fredricksburg and Bandera area. Ride the 3 sisters, and see the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum near Leaky.

You in the Mengar or the Crockett? Done my honeymoon in the Prime Suite of the Crockett. It's the one over the doorway that wraps around the corner of the building. I thought there was an Eagle Rider down there that rented Gold Wings and BMWs.

It'll be OK if you "RENT" a Harley. Just don't get all giddy about it. You'll recoup when you get home and back on the R*.

Closest place will be Caliente HD http://www.calienteharley.com/ 210.681.2254

You take W. Commerce Street out to the I-410 and then head north about a mile. Be on the right. If your planning on leaving the dealer and heading to the hill country then just go south on the I-410 a few miles and pick up State 90. That will take you west to Sabinal and Hwy 127 and into Hwy 83. 83 is a major 2 lane that goes from Laredo to Nebraska.
A few miles will bring you into Leakey. This is ground zero for the hill country motorcyclist. Take a left in the middle of town at RR-337 and stop at the edge of town at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop www.friocanyonmotorcyclestop.com Purchase Beer and souvenirs. Continue on RR-377 to Camp Wood. Fill up because not a lot of fuel for the rest of the trip. Go north on Hwy 55 a few miles and guide right onto RR-355. About 20 miles or so you will come to Hwy 41. Turn right and go about 14 miles to RR 366. This will take you back into Leakey and that will conclude the Three Sisters (377, 355, 366). These are very scenic SLOW twisties and you will encounter a lot of riders on the roads. From there you can take RR-377 East to Hwy 187 (Vanderpool) and go north to the Motorcycle Museum http://www.lonestarmotorcyclemuseum.com/ . you can continue north on 187 to Texas 39 and turn right. This road follows the Guadalupe river into Kerville. From Kerville you have a choice of going north about 25 miles to Old Germany Fredericksburg, east on I-10 70 miles to San Antonio or Hwy 173 to Bandera and then Hwy 16 back to San Antonio.

RR-377 east has a lot of switchbacks on the mountain road so be vigilant. These will take you from 55 to 10 mph in an instant. Also because of the heavy rains we've had over the last three weeks there are a few low water crossings that may be flooded. Check at the Frio Canyon stop for updates.
