Re:interest in an aluminum manifold for 1700's 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I have a modified Nemesis (Alum) 1600 manifold on my 1700 it has a longer plenum and is flanged for the S & S super "G" carb. I made a jig to transfer the 1700 holes into the 1600 manifold. I also used a Vulcan adapter to fit the HSR 42 to the flange. I put a fiber heat insulating flange between the two. I have this setup on now for about 4 years with no problems at all.

I had major problems trying to seal the stock rubber manifold. If my mod job didn't work, I would have burnt the bike That's how pissed I was.

I would have bought one if it was available then.

Is LuckyDon's concern about the vibration and float needle valid?

Also, do we want an aluminum intake that's shaped like stock, even if a ported stock, rather than more of a curved flowing design, like the Nemesis was?!?!?

Questcap, who said the manifold.is stock appearance? Guess you will have to see
I think this will say it all. Smooth curvature enlarged runners, and no the vibration will be no different then stock. Just look at the nemesis manifold, do people report problems with them? Simple answer is no they dont! i have a nemesis on my 1600 and love it,
Stock manifold is all boxy and not a smooth runner=bad otherwise all you guys wouldn't be porting them!

In the same hand turn if the aluminum manifolds were so great they would still be available to purchase and they are not.

I've heard someone say they were unhappy with a Benn Herr. Years ago when they were more popular and still available I remember hearing of vibration issues from a few members.

I would be interested in this as well. The stock intake is not a very good design for flow. I have never seen the inside of a nemesis manifold but if the shape of the outside is an indication of the inside that is a nice design. I am in the process of installing PR Pistons, warrior cams and ported heads and intake. I know PR claims 6-8 hp out of porting the intake but all you can really do is make it bigger and radius the short side turn. If a manifold with a real nice turn and a v shape on the back side that would work a lot better. Do you have a drawing of what yours will look like?
Does anyone know anything about the Orient Express performance valve springs.

Yes I know about the springs. After a conversation with Nigil Patrick from PR and the guy at Orient Express. I have been informed from both of them that the Orient Express springs will work with the Patrick Racing High lift cams. They are the springs that were used when Orient Express sold high lift cams for our bikes. I installed them last year along with a Patrick Racing Big Bore kit but with stock cams. I will be installing PR cams tomorrow with the Orient Express springs. I am very confident that they will be fine.
