Loren, I am so glad you're feeling better. After rebuilding mine after my accident. I turned it into a Trike to tow my minimate camper trailer. Sold my Stratoliner and bought the new 2018 Venture.

Red?What? Are you sure about that? What happened to black?

They are not making a black just a dark gray. So I'd rather have the red one.

So glad you are feeling better. Maybe take a look at the Indian scout. I know you want a blue one but...kicking tires can be fun...http://www.indianmotorcycles.net/threads/2016-scout-abs-1340-miles.183801/

Toby said the same thing, that we should test ride a scout when the time comes. I love the way the scout looks, I am just not sure I want to tie myself to a big loan.

There are a lot of good bikes out there like the raider Shores linked, that are $5K or less.

I just saw the pics. How bad was the bike? Did it bend the frame or was it more cosmetic stuff?

With the attachment you have towards it. Would it be worth buying back from the Ins. Company? Pick up some used parts along the way while you recover and make it your own again?

Just curious. I've never done something like that, but might consider it if the circumstances were right.

They wanted too much for the buy back. If I am going to spend over $2k on a bike, I can get an older model vstar 1100 or a honda shadow ready to roll.
browsed craigs list a bit and lots of nice $1,500 to $2,500 bikes out there that would be good enough for a year or two while I got back in the groove.

I even saw some really nice older roadstars. The dealership where I bought sapphire has a very nice Midnight star with lots of tasty addons for 5k

I do have to wait til I know I can pilot a bike before I buy one, but that is the price range I am staying within. =)
