$$ to save the forum? - what about the elephant?? 3 Weeks, 2 Days ago
It is wonderful to see quite a few people volunteering to pony up a few bucks to save the forum, I too would like to see it survive - If it could be the forum it was 3-4 years ago. Nobody can deny it has been in a steady decline of participation the last 3 to 4 years. There are very few bike posts in the last couple of months. If it were not for the forum shutting down and all the hubbub over trying to save it, it would be a ghost town here. The thought process about the Roadstar getting discontinued, riders getting younger and only Facebook savey, etc. causing the decline of the forum is BS. These bikes are not wearing out, granted a few have been totaled, but for the most part if they get sold, they are moving on to other owners with the same questions and interests. Those people just are not coming here, and if they do they do not stay. I am still in contact with quite a fair number of the guys who left, they just got tired of the BS and attitudes of a very select few. There are still a few guys here who will give their left nut to help someone they do not know out, I COMMEND THEM! However, all it takes is a minuscule number of the membership to turn everyone off, split a forum, and auger it into ruin. Maybe nobody here now wants to admit that has happened, but ask many of those who left and also those who stop by and do not stay. If the cancer can be checked, I would happily add cash to save it. But there is no use for anyone to put in hard earned money to a terminal cause.

So, addressing the elephant in the room. . . . HOW is a new forum going to be moderated (and by WHO) to bring it back to prosperity??? Is that not a bigger question than the funding? How will asses & trolls be dealt with in the future?

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Mike

mbk, Not sure what or who has drove those you speak of out, and don't want to. I have been around for a few years and can think of a few topics that went places that seemed off limits to me, really not a bunch. I just stay away from the topics or posts that get there for me. For the most part this is a good place and has good people that visit. I have enjoyed coning here and have got more help than I have given. I am here at least once or twice a day. The few times I can remember anything that might make people leave. Could probably be someone having a bad day or something. The mods have ended a couple of topics that I can remember. Have they tried to PM a moderator when they have ran into these issues? Very seldom when this many different people get together will everyone see eye to eye. I can't imagine that there are many places that you could go that people are more civil than here. I for one hope we can keep this place going because I still enjoy it here more than the other options I have tried. I hope you will stick around also. littlebull

Some of those guests are members. I'm at work and keep getting bounced out for some reason. When that happens, I will be shown as a guest.

Also, the "joining" of the forum needs to be easier than the current way.
That kept me from joining sooner. Had to have help from another member that I know, just to get the process completed.
