Thanks Rich B., I was just hoping that someone was still working on getting a batch of them made.

Another possibility is 3d printing in stainless steel. I don't know how smooth the surface is with this but you would have a finished part without the mold process. Could it be chrome ready???

Hey,
I certainly enjoy reading all of your comments about building and buying this bar if available. To get to where I am today, I've invested about $7-800 in the finished prototype. The first one is always the most pricy when designing and planning for production.
For me the radius section of the bar was to be formed on a mandrel bender which would require tooling be made to produce that exact bend, smooth and kink free with no flat spots, every time. My steel tubing was also spec'd as seamless to avoid seam pulling during forming and/or creating extra time in the buffing room later to smooth out the line. I think Steven and Landon followed another route by purchasing pre-formed steel coil, then cutting it to the length needed. I looked at both ways, and again, for production, the bender was the way to go.
The right and left stands are made from rectangular bar stock, cut, machined, drilled, threaded and de-burred. All I can say about the welding is that it needs to be even, hi-quality, and the smaller the bead the better. The small bead adds to the esthetics significantly. When polished it should all but disappear.
I got several plating quotes but ended up with a well respected plater who was toward the higher end of the cost scale but also had an "A" reputation and the most experience handling parts such as this. I did investigate fabricating this bar out of alum and ss but after looking at both of those materials highly polished I decided to stay with steel for the purpose of getting a better looking part when chromed. Overall cost, any metal selected, chrome or powder coat, the final cost remained fairly close.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel altogether on this yet, so, I am going to keep what I have in my confidential "tail rail" portfolio. However, this is an opportunistic society and I give credit to anyone willing to get this thing going the way I thought I could. It's really not a big deal. Just need money.

I have the original I bought from Steve's first batch made available here.

I never installed it and sold my R* so I still have it available...the buyer did not want much over stock so I stripped all accessories.

Since it is a collector's item now, make me an offer with shipping.

email me at: rstoever@verizon.net

BTW - I also have used 1600 pistons & heads w/ necessary gaskets & rings, small engine guards and Yami passenger floorboards.
